What do we mean by supported living?

Supported living is designed to help people with a range of support needs retain their independence while accessing support that meets their needs. The people we support at Senna House have their own tenancy and are responsible for their own bills and cost of living.

We work in conjunction with housing providers and social landlords, to ensure high-quality accommodation paired with support that empowers people, helping to build their skills and confidence and set goals in line with their individual aspirations. The support is provided by the team at Aldanat Care, with a support package tailored to their individual needs and abilities.

We work with the people we support, their families and social workers, to ensure that every individual is supported to understand and successfully manage their own tenancy, including ensuring that they are supported to access funding and benefits.

Tailored support

Our team focus on positive outcomes and developing the skills and confidence needed to move towards more independent living.

We believe in taking positive risks which harness the potential and individual preferences of each person, ensuring that the people we support are encouraged to set goals, make progress, and be valued and active members of their local community.

Our team is there to support with everything from learning skills such as self-care, cooking and cleaning, to supporting people to enjoy their local area, attend college and much more.

In addition to our team of dedicated support workers, the people we support have access to a trained mental health nurse and an in-house psychologist/forensic psychologist, and a PBS practitioner, who specialises in PBS training and support for our teams. We have strong relationships with a wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring that we can access high-quality speech and language therapists, Occupational Therapists, LD community nursing teams and psychiatrists depending on need.
